Club Games was the first intellectual property developed by Thrust Interactive. Much like Yahoo! Games or Pogo, Club Games is a gaming portal combined with social networking aspects. Launching in 2005, the monetization model was based on player-to-player fees (like Poker). However, we found the games and brand were better received by the casual gaming environment, so the business model was switched to advertisements and micro-transactions.
Functionality included a full tournament system, allowing for single and double elimination, consolation brackets, and prizes. As the name suggests, users could also create private “clubs” with their own lobby to run games and tournaments.
Club Games went dormant in January of 2010 so that the games could be translated into the new Thrust MME version and include mobile devices support. As of January 2010, there were 20,000 registered users, with over 400 private clubs.
